This is a series of photos showinig the stages of restoring a 1978 Fender Musicmaster guitar.
It was bought from a second hand guitar shop for £30 (in the sad state it was in). It had been pulled out of a skip i was told, the headstock was missing but everything else was intact, all be a bit on the rusty side. Due to being rained on.
The had a three piece Alder body which had come apart and looked like it had been glued back together with Jam!.
The back of the neck was green and black with water stains.
It was stripped down to bare wood, the body was cut into 3 pieces and glued back together again. A new piece of Maple was grafted onto the headstock and everything subjected to hours of duraglit and sand paper.
The fingerboard was taken off, reglued and refretted, pickup still worked.
It was for sale in a music shop until it was stolen by the shop owner, along with £800 of other items of mine. It then reappeared in an other music shop a mile down the road where i received ownership of it again. It was then sold on Flea-Bay for approx £150.
